Action Rhyme: Dinosaur Dinosaur

Do the teddy bear teddy bear rhyme, but say dinosaur dinosaur instead.

Flannel Activity

This was a little-mouse-style activity where the pig was hiding under one of the houses and I had the kids guess which color and then we all blew to blow the house away and see if the pig was there.

Early literacy tip

The ability to recognize colors and identify color names is an important part of a child’s cognitive development. It helps to create the link between visual clues and words.

Signs and Spanish Words

Dinosaur in Spanish is dinosaurio and you can find the sign here.

How it went

The kids love these guessing flannel activities! It was a really easy one to make and they had fun with it.

The True Story of the Three Little Pigs was a book I had told to me growing up and I loved it. The parents seemed to enjoy it, but kids were not a huge fan of the book and I will never read it again at storytime. It was one of the worst received books and I ended up not reading it at my second storytime of the week. I don’t know if it was just my crowd, or if kids don’t like that book anymore, but I’ll pass on it from now on. Falling for Rapunzel though, was very popular and got lots of giggles.

This theme was fun for me, but I don’t know if there are enough books I like for storytime in the theme to do it again. I do love the flannel though.
