My daughter who attends each of my storytimes requested a dragon storytime and I happily agreed since I have never done one before. Finding dragon books was fun and pretty easy since there are so many great ones!
Books we Read

Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin
Do Not Bring Your Dragon to the Library by Julie Gassman
There’s a Dragon in your Book by Tom Fletcher
Songs we Sang
Swing Your Dragon Tail
Turn around once and swing your dragon tail.
Turn around twice and flap your wings like sails.
Turn around three times, stomp your feet and roar.
Jump up high and then sit down on the floor.

I’m a Little Dragon
I’m a little dragon, strong and stout.
Here is my tail and here is my snout.
If you get me upset, you better watch out!
I’ll give you something to shout about!

Early Literacy Tip
Point out colors of everything or play “I spy with my little eye…”.
Flannel Board

Five Little Dragons
Five little dragons went out one day
Beyond the castle where they like to play
The mama dragon blew a breath of fire
And one of those little baby dragons flew higher.
Continue counting down…
Well big mama dragon went out that day
Beyond the castle where her babies play,
The mama dragon roared her loudest roar…
And all of her babies came back once more!

Craft

Using brown paper bags and some white paper that I had cut into shapes for the head, horns, wings, body, and tail – we made dragon puppets! I even got out some red orange and yellow crepe paper to add some fire! If you roll it up and stick it under the flap, you can open your hand and the fire shoots out! Okay, it isn’t so dramatic but it is really fun.
I decided to cut out the pieces of the body parts to speed up the craft and even though I had all of those pieces, every dragon turned out very different and charming!
