Early literacy librarian, Kirsten and her dog, Andy.

Hi, I’m Kirsten — a former youth services librarian and lifelong book lover now taking time to focus on family while staying deeply connected to the library world. I review children’s books for Booklist, School Library Journal, Kirkus, and Children’s Literature, and I share my favorite finds here on Early Literacy Librarian alongside simple crafts and storytime ideas.

When I’m not surrounded by books, you’ll find me running trails around Rochester, MN, walking my dogs, or cooking everything from scratch — from homemade bread to baked goods. I love coffee, chocolate, and reading with my daughter (who helps test all the crafts you’ll find here!).

This blog is my love project — a space to celebrate early literacy, creativity, and the joy of discovering the perfect book to share with a child. 💛
